Research and Projects
Contained below are various things I've worked on in the past in no particular order. Some are interesting, some or not - I leave you to be the judge!
Current Works in Progress
These are things I'm working on right now, which may or may not have some web presence yet, but I would still enjoy talking about if prompted!
Nothing at this time!
Research & Guides
- CCFL Laptop/Notebook or LCD Backlight Replacement - I wrote this when a notebook computer of mine (full discloser: a Compaq) lost its backlight, and the screen turned orange. I bought a replacement bulb and documented the research I had done and process of replacing the bulb.
- Automated Vowel Inventory Mapping - I have a dream that Praat can perform automated mapping and charting of vowel formant frequencies for speech segments for a given speaker's vowel inventory. This was the result of a project for my Applied Linguistics class.
- The Visual Pattern Recognition of Reading - Presentation and paper from December, 2008, given again in October, 2009.
Software
My software applications are located at the Software section of this website.
Crafts & Creations
- Firefly Pendant - Based on the Instructable by Clamoring.
- Steel Car Mount - A bracket and phone mount for my HTC TyTN/AT&T 8525 custom made for my 2001 VW Jetta.
Hacks
- Signo RT Gel .38 Cartridge Replacement - These pens don't have refill cartridges, so I made one out of a Signo 207 .5 and .7 refill!
Web Projects
- Website for Elementary Japanese Education Capstone - For my B.A. capstone at Portland State University, I took a class where I'm a volunteer assistant in the Japanese language classes at an elementary school in Portland. As a requirement for the class, I had to do community service of some sort, and so made a website for the course.
- Creatures of the Damned - I created some comic strip software and ran a comic strip for a while. It has since been run by ramerk@LiveJournal since I gave up, but the page and original images are still here.
- Webcam - Back in Web 1.0, I had a webcam. Now I don't. It is preserved for posterity.
